Crowns, Caps, and Veneers

When you look in the mirror, are you happy with your smile? When you eat, are you able to do so comfortably and confidently? Most importantly, are you sharing your concerns or experiences with your dentist during your semi-annual checkups? Your dentist wants to work with you to make your smile beautiful and to eliminate any discomfort. Thanks to options like crowns and veneers, you can have confidence and comfort.

Crowns, also referred to as caps, serve to give a damaged tooth protection. Dentists can recommend crowns as a treatment for teeth that are weak or damaged, broken or chipped. Crowns are an excellent option for both adults and children who have teeth at a high risk of decay or damage, or for chipped teeth.

Dentists use crowns as a permanent solution to the problem. Crowns are made of materials such as ceramic or resin and are meant to be as durable as your other teeth. However, in order to get the perfect and permanent fit, you will likely need to visit the dentist’s office twice. During your first visit, the dentist will prepare your tooth for the crown. Then, on your next visit, the dentist will place the permanent crown.

Crowns can range from $800 – $1,500, depending on the patient. However, some of your cost could be covered by your dental insurance.

Your dentist may suggest veneers if you are looking to improve the appearance of your teeth. These thin shells cover the front of your teeth, giving you a brand new smile of uniform and white teeth. Veneers are permanent and made of durable materials to last.

Veneers could be a good option for you if your teeth are discolored or chipped, misshapen or uneven. Talk to your dentist about the veneer options available to you, and if your insurance will cover some of the cost.

Curious about crowns and veneers? We would love to talk more about it with you. Give us a call today to set up your checkup with our dental team.
